Solid State Controllers

Yes.  Solid state controllers are relatively new to the industry.  They have printed circuit boards and digital displays.  The programming for them is not as intuitive as it is with the electromechanical controllers.  Their advantage is lower cost and significantly greater ability to manage the application of water for complex sites.  Dual and independent programs are available.  An independent program allows irrigation at intervals and for durations customized for each valve.

The third kind of controller is the hybrid.  It has features of both the solid state and the mechanical clock.  In this image you can see the digital read-out on the upper left part of the controller.  This solid state feature is combined with a knob that is used to assist the programming.  The combination makes the controller user friendly and powerfully flexible.
