Cors 236     20 April, 2023

A file is posted that has your calculated total at this point in the semester.  Use your post code (from Canvas) to identify your line in this file.  The file has scores for:

exams 1-4, quizzes 1-13, your participation total (max of 60)

Scores for quizzes 12 and 13 will both be 6 if you did the personality survey, 0 otherwise.

The rightmost score is the sum of all 4 tests plus your best 10 quizzes plus your participation total.  Students in Honors also have one homework score, that is not included, but you may find this score in Canvas.  The second homework is not due yet but will ultimately go toward your total.

Note:  you have a 0 for all quizzes not completed.  The deadlines for OQuiz 9 and 10 has not passed, so if you have not taken those yet, those scores may affect your total.  And OQuiz 11 is not active yet, so that too can affect your total.

Warning:  confirm (from Canvas) that these scores are yours; you should also check the addition.  If I catch any error in these totals, I will correct them.

The syllabus has the following grade thresholds (except for Honors):

A  is 270 and above   (260 is the new threshold)

B is 240 and above  (236 is the new threshold)

C is 210 and above (203 is the new threshold)

D is 180 and above (any change to this will await the end of semester)

Honors:  add 27 to the new A threshold, 24 to the new B threshold; add your homework scores to the total listed in the file.

How to increase your total

For those of you below the threshold to which you aspire, you may increase your total by taking remaining quizzes and exam 5.  (There may or may not be more participation activities offered.)

But, whatever scores you get on subsequent quizzes or exam 5, they at best replace your current lowest scores in the same category.  If your worst exam score is 30 on exams 1-4 and you get 28 on exam 5, your total will not go up.  If you get 32 on exam 5, your total will go up two points – replacing the 30.  Likewise for quizzes.
