About the College of Natural Resources
Wildland Fire Program

For more than 35 years, the College of Natural Resources at the University of Idaho has been a leader in wildland fire education, research and outreach. We encourage an interdisciplinary approach to addressing real-world relevant to the state, region, nation and world. We offer more courses focused on fire than any other natural resources school in the country. Students can complete an undergraduate or graduate-level certificate in fire ecology and management, a minor in fire ecology and management or the only Bachelors' of Science Degree focused on wildland fire in the U.S.

Our courses and degree programs are developed to provide students with real-world skills and fundamental principles to become leaders in fire and natural resource management. Our fire research program builds upon our educational program by attracting top graduate students and promoting collaboration with the leading fire scientists. We challenge our graduate students with innovative research projects that provide useful, timely and sound science relevant to fire management issues across the state, region and nation.
