Be sure to choose the Summary option when creating your Peromyscus input file in 2CAPTURE. This option is available under the Read pull-down menu, after the Occasions option.
If you are having trouble setting up your input file, take a look at the microtus.inp file. The data sets are very similar (i.e., both X-Y reduced format). Consequently, the input file for Peromyscus that you create in 2Capture should be similar (but not the same) as microtus.inp. If you make a mistake while in 2Capture and accidentally insert a bad command line, then go to a text editor or wordprocessing program and clean up your input file. You can invoke the DOS text editor by typing (at the DOS prompt):
g:\capture>edit filename.inp
NOTE: abundance estimates and test of assumptions in microtus.inp were restricted to trapping occasions 4-8. Do not restrict your analysis of the peromyscus data. You usually use all available data in your first run, and that is what I want you to turn in. If you want to experiment with different trapping occasions (in terms of analysis), then go ahead. However, only turn in the analysis that uses all 10 trapping occasions to estimate abundance and test hypotheses about closure, etc.
NOTE: Other help notes may be added to this page over the next few days, so you may want to check back here occasionally. If the help notes do not adequately answer your question, please see the TA's or Dr. Garton during office hours.
