Guilin
The city of Guilin is located in northwestern part of Guangxi Autonomous Region. The city is well known for its natural scenery characterized by a typical karst landscape formation. A crystal clear Li River flows through the city vying down southward to pass a little town called Yangshou. Several uniquely shaped hills decorate the city and the surrounding areas. Taking a boat trip along the Li River is a lifetime fulfillment and one feels the inner beauty and charm of the nature. The tourist pleasure boats along the Li River operate on the daily basis and you will never have to miss this great adventure.
I took many of the following pictures. These are not paintings or imaginations. They are the wonder of nature.
1. Scene from the Li River
Sunrise & Sunset on the Li River
Wonderland of the Li River
Bamboo Rafts on the Li River
Men, Water Buffalos, and the Nature
2. Scene in Guilin
Inside The Reed Flute Cave, which is located halfway of the Guangming Mount west of city center. The stalagmite and stalactites inside the cave, decorated by the colorful lights, form a dazzling view.
The Camel Hill (in the Seven Star Park) Elephant Hill (downtown along the Li River bank)
The Moon Hill from Distance Overlapping Hills in Distance
Transplanting the Rice Seedlings in Spring Harvesting the Rice in Summer
Water Buffalos are the major farming tools in the paddy fields in the south
More water Buffaloes in the fields
3. Bicycling around the area
Guilin and Yangshou, another tourist town nearby, are very accessible by bicycle. Tourists can rent a bike and ride around the local rural area to enjoy the paddy fields, water buffaloes, farmers working in the fields, and other interesting scene.
You can either ride on a bicycle, or on the Tandem with a friend,
or just to walk along the road to enjoy the beautiful scenery
Eating out and evening hanging out in Yangshuo town is the most fun part
I hope that you enjoy the brief online tour of Guilin and the nearby Youngshou town. Maybe you want to join the Study Tour in the summer of 2003. Please go back to the main page and visit the my summer teaching schedule to find out the details.
