Thomas

 

 

Image of two pages from the Nag Hammadi Codex IV.  Gospel of Thomas is in Codex II.   Found in December of 1945, near a small Egyptian town, the twelve leather-bound papyrus codices, along with pages torn from a thirteenth book, were buried in a sealed jar were found by local peasants. Written in Coptic, as translations from the Greek, the writings in these codices date back to the 2nd century C.E.
