Boarding Schools and Missionaries
The Federal Government, in an attempt to better coordinate the "management" of Indian lives, assigned various religious missionary denominations to the various reservations. For example, Methodists were assigned to the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs (Oregon), the Presbyterian and Catholics to the Nez Perce of Idaho, a Franciscan order of Catholics to the Crow and Jesuit order of Catholics to the Coeur d'Alene of Idaho, and yet another order of Catholics to the Blackfeet of Montana.
