| The vaulted Arch of Kabah stands as a gateway to the
ceremonial road to Uxmal. The ceremonial roadways were elevated
paved paths 2-8 feet above the ground, 15 feet wide, and up to 60
miles long. The roads connected various important ceremonial
centers. The road surface was made of natural lime which the
Mayans hardened with water and pressure from large stone rollers.
The sides of the road were faced with rough stone.
