Mentor Implementation--First Iteration

Background

A major project objective is "to create a mentor program, organized in tiers. This subtask involves the first iteration of mentor implementation.  The goals are

bulletAcquire concrete examples of mentoring for use in future mentor training workshops.  The specific aim of this task is to create video examples of each element of the mentoring process as this process was presented at the workshop.  
bulletDevelop a method to "design education" so that prof and mentors have the same understanding of the goals of the educational experience and the attributes of quality (i.e. what are the criteria that indicate that the goals are met).
bulletDetermine how mentors (a) influence affective outcomes of learners, and (b) influence learning of course content.

Cost:  Approximately $800 (mentor salary), video tapes, video editing

Outcomes

1.) video tapes showing examples of element of the mentoring cycle

2.) variety of assessment data from students and mentors

3.) examples of lesson plans for use in mentoring workshops and to illustrate paradigm of "performance based" understanding (TFu Framework)
