Krishna Mandir
This temple is located right in front of the palace on the northern side of the durbar square. Unlike all other temples around the square, it is a stone temple in the shikhara style which demonstrates the influence of Indian architecture in Kathmandu. Kind Siddhinarshimha Malla built this temple in early sixteenth century.

This three-storied temple has stone carvings on each of its floors from different religious stories.

Rato Macchindranath Temple
Rato Macchindranath Temple is one of the best examples of pagoda architecture in  Patan Durbar Square. The temple is located towards the south of the palace standing in the center of a spacious paved courtyard, called the Ta Bahal. It was built in 1408 by King Narendra Malla but a lot of additions were done to this temple later.

  Door detail at the temple

The temple is square in plan and has a two-tiered pagoda roofing. These roofs are covered  by metal sheets, which are supported by carved wooden struts. The temple has four elaborately decorated doorways on all four sides, and these doorways are guarded by lion figures, which is typical of all Nepali temples. A small chaitya is attached to this temple and a large plastered chaitya besides it. Both the Hindus and the buddhists worship this temple, which makes it very unique and special to all the Nepalese people.
