Instructor Bio Sketch
Dr. Meier is an
Associate Professor of Psychology at the University of Idaho and is
currently the director of the University of Idaho Addictions
Training Program. His academic training and expertise is in applied
psychology with a specialization in addictive and high-risk
behavior. Dr. Meier also has considerable experience in neuroscience
with an emphasis in psychopharmacology.
Dr. Meier has also worked with several addictions treatment agencies
(using different theoretical perspectives). He also has worked
extensively with the Idaho Department of Health teaching courses
related to sexually transmitted diseases. He also teaches courses
related to behavioral change to professionals working with high-risk
populations.
Finally, Dr. Meier’s technical expertise includes considerable
experience in program evaluation as well as survey design and
implementation. His projects include conducting the CSAT needs
assessment project. In that project, he developed a survey
instrument that evaluated treatment providers. He has also developed
surveys that evaluated high-risk sexual behavior in individuals who
were Gay or used alcohol or drugs. In addition, Dr. Meier has
coordinated a program evaluation of state alcohol and drug abuse
agencies, plus, developed a client outcome assessment project for
the Bureau of Mental Health and Substance Abuse. His most recent
project has been to coordinate the development of an extensive
website of archival data-bases related substance abuse and STDs.
