Strategic Plan – Strategies and Outcomes – Mom’s Weekend 2004

 Goal:  Reduce excessive alcohol consumption and related consequences by underage students and their parents during Mom’ Weekend

Strategy 1.3b – Ads in the Evergreen
Place ads in the Daily Evergreen during the week before Mom’s Weekend and in the Mom’s Weekend edition welcoming students and parents to Mom’s Weekend festivities and reminding them about responsible behavior and healthy lifestyle choices.

Submit articles to the Daily Evergreen during the week before Mom’s Weekend and in the Mom’s Weekend edition welcoming students and parents to Mom’s Weekend festivities and reminding them about responsible behavior and healthy lifestyle choices.

 Problem #2: Alcohol is abundantly available and aggressively promoted to students and parents during Mom’s Weekend. 

Objective 2.1 – To decrease access to alcohol through enforcement of minimum purchase age laws aimed at retailers.

WSU PD and Pullman PD will continue to collaborate with the WSLCB Spokane Enforcement Office to perform compliance checks at local licensed liquor establishments.

Objective 2.3 – To limit and/or eliminate the advertising and promotion of events that encourage the excessive use of alcohol.
