NASA's Mission to Europa

-- posted April 2016 --

The following 3:09 minutes video presents NASA’s mission to Europa - one of the moons of Jupiter (which by the way has 67 moons).

The most interesting feature of Europa is that the entire moon is covered with ice. Roughly the size of our Moon, it is believed that underneath the icy surface of Europa there is a large ocean of liquid water. Since on Earth everywhere where there is water there is life, it is possible that there may be some form of algae or bacteria under the icy shell of Europa, similar to the life in the polar regions on Earth.

The prospect of finding alien life on another celestial body, located practically in our neighborhood, is exciting, and if proved correct it will change the way we see the universe. The mission is planned for 2020.
