About Me
I am an Associate Professor in Industrial Technology at the University of Idaho in Idaho Falls. I also serve as an Affiliate Faculty member in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Idaho. Additionally, I am a member of the Machine Intelligence and Data Analytics (MIDA) lab and I assist in leading the lab alongside Dr. Xian.
The scope of my research interests resides at the intersection of machine learning and mechatronics. I am particularly interested in biomedical applications of machine learning, as well as, in designing robust, secure, and trustworthy machine learning systems, in general.
My current research projects involve image processing with application in healthcare for breast cancer detection and in agriculture for crop stress identification in aerial images, machine learning for predicting material properties with application in materials science, and modeling human movements with application in robotics for observational learning from human demonstrations and in healthcare for assessment of patient performance in physical rehabilitation.
In the Spring 2025 semester, I am teaching Adversarial Machine Learning, Computer Integrated and Robotics Manufacturing Technology, and Project and Program Management.
