The Friday mosque of Zaria, in Nigeria, was built in 1840 for the Emir of Zaria. The pictures here come from a reconstruction of this mosque that was done for The Architectural Museum at Jos because, in the 1970s, negotiations to rebuild it on its original site in Zaria failed. The reconstruction is 80ft x 70ft, with 6 bays, each covered by a dome.  The wall surrounding the mosque has only four entrances which lead to the ambulatory. From here there is only one entrance into the mosque itself.
