Read Manly Chapter 4
Lesson
Description
This module discusses the difference between
observational data and experimental data and some of the issues that
arise based on how data is collected. It also discusses tests of
significance, the randomization test, bootstrapping, pseudoreplication,
multiple testing, meta-analysis, and Bayesian methods.
The first main objective of the module is to review and be comfortable
setting up and carrying out tests of significance and a Fisher's
randomization test. The second objective is to understand the basic
characteristics of bootstrapping, multiple testing, meta-analysis, and
Bayesian methods. Actually carrying out these methods is beyond the
scope of the course but you should be able to discuss them.
This week, work through the three sub-modules and review Chapter 4 in
the textbook. You will need to show mastery of this material in Problem Set 3. |
