Lesson 4.2: Operant Conditioning/Aversive Conditioning and Punishment
Introduction:

Aversive Conditioning and PunishmentThere are a variety of aversive conditioning procedures and they fall into two classes: Extinction and punishment. Extinction procedures involve the removal of some reinforcer which results in the reduction of a behavior, while punishment procedures either apply or remove some stimulus and decrease a behavior. This chapter reviews both concepts but primarily focuses on punishment.

After completing this lesson you should understand / be able to:

bulletUnderstand the two types of punishment and how they work.
bulletIdentify variables that will influence punishers and punishment.
