Platform Houses
Platform style houses existed primarily in southern China. Primitive people used stone tools to make wood beams and purlins and even chiseled out mortises and tenens to secure the joints of the beams. Evidence of this construction has been found that is over 7,000 years old. This use of timber framework and mortises and tenens formed the basis of classical buildings in ancient China. |
