Description

Evaluation is a process for determining the quality of a performance or product. When accountability is an issue an evaluation process should include ways to collect and accurately interpret artifacts regarding the quality displayed over period of time. Evaluations focus on the performance of an evaluatee, but are conducted for the benefit of a client. Evaluations rely on standards to determination whether performance or product is at an acceptable level.

Relevance

Developing good evaluation processes can ensure that decisions are based on unbiased information. Practicing good evaluation processes can save time and money in making internal decisions, and in reporting to external agencies. Regular evaluation sets explicit expectations for performance that are clearly understood and can provide motivation for professional development in subsequent evaluation periods.
