Wall Section Analysis

 Due Third Monday in October at 10:30 am. No credit for late projects! Submit as reduced size PDF to <mespinosa@uidaho.edu>.

1.   Analyze two different wall constructions, or perhaps an existing wall, and your design modification for it. Pick  projects that show wall sections like the one below. Make annotated drawings of the wall sections calling out materials.

2.   Use Opaque from UCLA <https://www.sbse.org/resources/opaque> to calculate the R-values of your two wall sections. Also inspect the section for thermal bridges (gaps in the insulation, usually at junctions of floors or roofs and walls or decks).

3.  Comment on the relative effectiveness of the walls and suggest alterations that would improve their thermal performance.
