Lesson 2: Principles of Pavlovian Conditioning
Introduction:

Pavlovian ConditioningPavlovian conditioning (also called classical conditioning) is a type of learning that is very important to all organisms, not just humans. It is also hypothesized to be the way neurons learn as well. Classical conditioning has a variety of concepts that are extremely important. Thus, you must review the lecture and text material very well and examine each concept closely. This series of lectures first describes the classical conditioning paradigm and related concepts (including the variables and factors that will influence the paradigm). Once completed, the lectures describe several theories that attempt to describe what is happening in classical conditioning. Finally, the lectures and text material describe some applications that use classical conditioning.

In each module, be able to describe the classical conditioning paradigm and concepts related to it (e.g., extinction, generalization, etc.). Read the text first, and then listen to the lectures. Finally, reread the book and add that information to your notes when applicable.

After completing this lesson you should understand / be able to:

bulletUnderstand the classical conditioning paradigm and related concepts.
bulletDifferentiate between the schedules of classical conditioning.
bulletUnderstand how different variables influence classical conditioning.
bulletIdentify and understand some applications of classical conditioning.
