Merge Course Request

Use this form to ask to have multiple sections of a course combined into a single Canvas course space. Prior to filling out the following merge request, please confirm the sections are not already merged for you in Canvas. Also use this form to ask for sections to be separated, if needed.

A merged course in Canvas is designated by three characters, (M), placed at the end of the course title. Go to Settings > Sections in a merged course to view a list of sections attached to the merge. If a merge is missing sections, please email canvashelp@uidaho.edu to have them added.

Standard Course Numbers (e.g. Directed study - 299, 499, 502, 602 and Special topics - 204, 404, 504, 604) cannot be merged with Catalog Courses. Special Topics courses can only be merged with other Special Topics courses. Directed Study courses can only be merged with other Directed Study courses. (See Faculty Staff Handbook)

ATTENTION
Request course merges prior to the start of the semester. Submitted student work does not transfer with a merge. So if students have already submitted work in the original section, that section cannot be moved into a merge.
